The Ng i Tai ki T maki Tribal Trust is currently in direct negotiations with the Crown
for the settlement of all historical claims of Ng i Tai ki T maki. Although the Trust is
still working towards Deed of Settlement, it seeks to ratify the establishment of its Post
Settlement Governance Entity (PSGE), prior to ratifying the Deed of Settlement.
The Trust has prepared a Trust Deed for the PSGE. The proposed PSGE is a private
trust, the Ng i Tai ki T maki Trust, and will receive and manage all Ng i Tai ki T maki
settlement assets on behalf of the iwi. In order for the PSGE to receive the assets, the iwi
must ratify the PSGE through a formal ratification process. We now invite all members
of Ng i Tai ki T maki to participate in this process through attending information hui and
voting on the following resolution: "I accept the Ng i Tai ki T maki Trust as the post
settlement governance entity to receive and manage all settlement assets on behalf
of Ng i Tai ki T maki."
Voting packs will be distributed to all registered members of Ng i Tai ki T maki who are
over the age of 18.
Before the close of voting, the Trust will be holding three information hui open to the iwi.
Saturday, 22nd September 2012 Torere Marae, TORERE
Sunday, 23rd September 2012 Te Puru Scout Hall, BEACHLANDS 10am
Saturday, 29th September 2012 Ngaruawahia RSA, NGARUAWAHIA 10am
You do not need to attend the information hui to vote on the PSGE but we do encourage
you to attend in order to discuss the PSGE and ask any questions prior to voting. All
registered members of Ng i Tai ki T maki who are over the age of 18 before the close of
voting will receive a voting pack in the post. Votes can be cast:
For those iwi members who are not registered, you may post a special vote by completing
a voting form together with a registration form for verification. Special voting forms (and
registration forms) can be requested from the Trust and/or the Independent Returning
Officer, Anthony Morton.
Voting opens at 12pm, Friday 21st September 2012 and closes at 12pm, Friday 19th
