While I find the rates increase to be excessive -- even more so for those with properties on Great Barrier whose residents are told they can enjoy Motat, the zoo, etc -- of much more concern is the fact that St Heliers is being destroyed and it took a member of the audience to inform us that nothing had changed since the recent developments! Len Brown gave a different impression and effectively lied by omission. It is heartbreaking to see the Turua and Maheke St monstrosities and know that these could be repeated. At a pre-election meeting Mr Brown said he would save Auckland s heritage. He has failed miserably to date. Richard Oddy St Heliers Reader photo competition The East & Bays Courier is running a new reader photo competition called Viewfinder. Do you enjoy taking photos? We'd love to see some of your work. Send us your favourite snap. It could be a family photo, a special moment or just a beautiful view of the harbour. Each week, the best photograph will be published in our Friday paper. The winner will receive a $100 voucher for The Paddington in Parnell. Send your photo to email@example.com with Viewfinder in the subject line. Please include your contact details and tell us where and when the photo was taken.
