Back to business: John Rennell and his wife Penny are pleased to have their Ellerslie jewellery store back to normal

Peace has been restored along
with the front window at John
and Penny Rennell s jewellery
store in Ellerslie.
The couple is pleased to be trad-
ing as usual again after a man
attempted to break in by repeat-
edly backing his car into the front
door early on June 7 (East & Bays
Courier, June 13).
A 35-year-old man from Royal
Oak was arrested in relation to a
spate of five robberies in the area
including Platina Jewellery in
Milford, Rennells of Ellerslie,
Jems of Remuera and the Calvin
Klein store on Teed St in New-
market, which was hit twice.
He will appear in Auckland Dis-
trict Court on July 30 charged
with five counts of burglary.
Mr Rennell says the community

businesses and the customers.

bad and we ve seen this as an
opportunity to beef up our secur-
ity. We ve got new cameras, bars,
doors all sorts, he says.
He s not going to beat us --
we re going to beat him.
