Market day: Remuera residents celebrated Neighbours Day with their Autumn Market Day.
Remuera Rotary raised more than $1500 for Remuera Plunket, Baker's Delight was
raising funds for Starship and Brumbys/Caffe Villetta had a sausage sizzle for Victoria
Avenue School. The Lions were out in force and the Girl Guides were selling biscuits while
the playcentre raised funds with a cake stall. An Auckland Grammar School jazz band
performed to a very appreciative audience, raising funds for their trip to Tauranga. Fairies
in the Village Green entertained the children.
Shared lunch: Neighbours Day Aotearoa was
celebrated on March 24. A group of 40 neighbours from
around Mt Wellington gathered at St Peters
Presbyterian Church in Harrison Rd for a barbecue
lunch. The church hosted the event to help people in
the area get to know each other.
Special day: Saint Kentigern Preschool finally held its official opening last
month. The school waited a year for the event because the children
particularly wanted John Key to open the school and he had a Rugby
World Cup and election to get through. Mr Key spent time interacting with
the children and said it was the highlight of his day.
Official opening: While
