New job for Joe: Joe Moodabe of
Remuera has been named the next
president of Variety -- The Children's

Moodabe is heading in a different
direction with his new role as
president of Variety -- The
The Remuera resident has
taken over from Pam Fauvel, who
stepped down after four years in
Variety chief executive Lorraine
Taylor says Mr Moodabe has
supported the organisation for 12
years, more recently on the board
of directors and as chairman of
the 2008 Variety international
In his former roles of chief
executive of Hoyts Cinemas and
later Village SkyCity Cinemas, he
provided special screenings for
movie premieres and fundraisers.
He truly has helped children's
dreams come true. When a young
cancer patient was too sick to
attend a much anticipated movie
premiere, Joe did not hesitate,
closing an entire cinema to the
public and screening the film for
him to enjoy with his family and
friends,'' Ms Taylor says.
Mr Moodabe is excited about
the challenges ahead.
What has always impressed
me about Variety has been the
passion and dedication of the
countless volunteers who have
contributed to the Variety cause
year after year.
I am fortunate to have such a
skilled and enthusiastic board to
provide the impetus for the

be held in 16 locations
